Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the Threadline iOS app ("the App"), operated by Casey Zandbergen ("we," "us," "our") as a sole proprietorship.

By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the App.

1. What Threadline is

Threadline is an AI-powered virtual closet app. You photograph your clothes, the App catalogs them with AI-generated tags and embeddings, and then helps you build outfits from what you already own. Some features are free; others require a paid subscription.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 17 years old to use Threadline. By using the App, you represent that you meet this age requirement.

3. Your account

• You need an account to use Threadline. You sign up with an email address.
• You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
• You're responsible for all activity under your account.
• One account per person. Don't share accounts.
• If you suspect unauthorized access, email support@threadline.fashion immediately.

4. Subscriptions and billing

Free tier

Threadline's free tier includes garment upload with AI tagging, background removal, hanger top-crop, manual outfit building, and basic vector-based outfit recommendations. Free accounts are limited to 25 garments via camera-roll bulk import (individual uploads are unlimited).

Premium tier ($9.99/month)

Premium unlocks AI-powered outfit re-ranking (Gemini), hanger inpainting, and additional features as we add them. The current premium feature set is described on the App Store product page.

Billing

• All payments are processed by Apple through In-App Purchase. We do not directly handle your payment information.
• Subscriptions auto-renew monthly unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
• To cancel, go to Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iPhone, or manage through the App Store. We cannot cancel subscriptions on your behalf — Apple controls billing.
• Refunds are handled by Apple per their refund policy.
• We reserve the right to change pricing. Price changes apply to the next billing cycle after notice, not retroactively. Existing subscribers will be notified at least 30 days in advance.

No commitment

You can cancel anytime. When you cancel, you keep premium access through the end of your current billing period. After that, your account reverts to the free tier. Your data is preserved — nothing is deleted when you downgrade.

5. What you can do (and can't do)

You can:

• Upload photos of clothes you own or are considering buying.
• Build and save outfits.
• Share outfit images via the iOS share sheet.
• Use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.

You can't:

• Upload content you don't have the right to use.
• Use the App to harass, harm, or impersonate others.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App.
• Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to interact with the App.
• Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the App or any content generated by it.
• Circumvent usage limits, subscription restrictions, or security measures.
• Use the App for any illegal purpose.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms.

6. Your content

You own your photos

You retain full ownership of every photo you upload. We don't claim any intellectual property rights over your clothing photos, outfits, or any content you create in the App.

You give us a limited license to operate the service

By uploading photos, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to store, process, display, and transmit your content solely for the purpose of providing the Threadline service to you. This license ends when you delete the content or your account.

AI-generated content

AI-generated tags, descriptions, outfit recommendations, and other outputs are provided to you as part of the service. You may use them freely. We don't claim ownership of AI outputs generated from your content.

Shared content

When you share an outfit image via the share sheet, the composed image may be posted publicly on social media or messaging platforms at your discretion. You're responsible for where and how you share it.

7. AI disclaimer

Threadline uses artificial intelligence for garment tagging, outfit recommendations, weather-aware suggestions, and calendar-aware suggestions. AI outputs are suggestions, not professional styling advice. Specifically:

• Tags and descriptions may be inaccurate. AI can misidentify colors, categories, brands, or other attributes. You can always edit tags manually.
• Outfit recommendations are algorithmic. They're based on vector similarity, weather data, and calendar context — not human judgment.
• Weather data is approximate. We use Open-Meteo forecasts at city level.
• Calendar matching is keyword-based. The App infers occasion from event titles using a local keyword table. It may misinterpret ambiguous event names.

We provide the service "as is" — see the warranty disclaimer in Section 10.

8. Service availability

• We aim for high availability but don't guarantee uninterrupted service.
• The App depends on third-party services. If any experience downtime, parts of the App may be temporarily unavailable.
• We may temporarily suspend the service for maintenance, updates, or security reasons.
• Features may change over time. If we remove a feature that's part of your paid subscription, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice.

9. Termination

By you

You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete Account in the App, or by emailing support@threadline.fashion.

By us

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, your use poses a security risk, we're required to by law, or we discontinue the service (with at least 60 days' notice and a prorated refund for any prepaid subscription period).

10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Warranty disclaimer

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THREADLINE, ITS OPERATOR, OR ITS THIRD-PARTY SERVICE PROVIDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR $50, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

11. Dispute resolution

Informal resolution first

Before filing any formal claim, you agree to contact us at support@threadline.fashion and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.

Binding arbitration

If we can't resolve it informally, any dispute arising from these terms or the App will be resolved by binding arbitration administered by JAMS under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules, conducted in English. The arbitration will take place remotely unless both parties agree to in-person proceedings.

Class action waiver

YOU AND THREADLINE AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN YOUR OR ITS INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING.

Small claims exception

Either party may bring an individual action in small claims court if the claim qualifies.

30-day opt-out

You may opt out of the arbitration and class action waiver provisions by sending a written notice to support@threadline.fashion within 30 days of first creating your account. If you opt out, disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in the State of California.

12. General provisions

• Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles.
• Entire agreement. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Threadline regarding the App.
• Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full effect.
• No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision doesn't waive our right to enforce it later.
• Assignment. We may assign these terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. You may not assign your rights under these terms.
• Notices. We may send notices to the email address associated with your account.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you via email or an in-app banner at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the App after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
